Dresses and new trends for one of the wedding day stars.

Mother of the bride is a major and challenging role that's also in the limelight, keen to rise to the occasion but often frozen by their fear of choice. Here we can apply the norms around the time of day, season and ambiance of the ceremony and reception, but with an added tip: be in keeping with your children and don’t give in to the temptation to ‘overdress’.  Supporting the mother of the bride are the dedicated collections: a series of truly elegant dresses that are both fashion- and specific occasion-conscious. The rule is individuality, style, feeling at ease and being in keeping with the bride and groom... Seeing as the mothers will be wedding party co-stars. Key for the coming season are full, bold and bright colours, single-coloured dresses that are well fit and assertive. These are warmed by tulle detailing, major embellishments and embroidery, flashy and fanciful sleeves, bejewelled buttons and a bit of glitter, as long as it is reserved for after five.

Sì SposaItalia Collezioni has gathered up trends and tips directly from representatives of renowned bridal boutiques that have always augmented our trade fair event, emphasising its uniqueness with their creations. And in the run up to the next edition, scheduled for April 14th to 17th, 2023, we're aiming to chart a well thought out map of formal dresses dedicated to and designed entirely for the mother of the bride.

“Personality, our interests and elegance, should always emerge,” comments Dario Mongioy, General Manager of the Elisabetta Polignano brand, which offers dresses that beautifully combine balance and originality. From the golden-yellow of the half fishtail skirt worn with a high-neck bodice and plunging-to-the-waist neckline, to the more classic blue of the two-piece with flared trousers and a masculine blazer with lace appliqués. Slightly more exuberant is the fuchsia stretch cady suit with palazzo trousers and tight-fitting halter neck corset.

“Choosing an elegant dress for the mother of the bride takes serious thought,” adds Caroline Musani, marketing manager of Musani Couture. “There are many points to consider: from getting the right fit for the bride and groom's palette to the season of the wedding.” That’s why Musani Couture offers something to meet every need: from pastel colours to two-piece suits with clean-cut lines, from long gowns for evening celebrations to dress coats for cooler climes.

Sophisticated and spectacular dresses constitute the four lines by Tarik Ediz: a couture created in the name of luxury, much loved by brides and their mothers owing to “the absolute artisanship and refined attention to detail that characterise it,” as Damla Ediz, creative director of the Tarik Ediz brand, explained. And this is exactly what emerges from their mother-of-the-bride creations: from the dress featuring a bead-embroidered cloak and bodice to the clear lines of the lace tulle dress whose volume is exaggerated by feathers and luminescent detailing. Even the dress whose playful upper-part draping makes the floral lower part even more enchanting, not to mention the chemise with a fishtail silhouette embellished by a row of charming buttons.

And here are their dresses: images to inspire that show the latest trends for a truly elegant mother of the bride.
