MILAN: the ideal city for Sì Sposaitalia Collezioni

Milan and fieramilanocity_Mico are the ideal place to host a glamorous event like Sì Sposaitalia Collezioni.

In fact, the hosting exhibition centre is located in one of the most modern districts of the city. It is called CityLife and is a symbol of the urban regeneration that has changed the look of Milan in recent years. After dismantling the old pavilions of the Milan Trade Fair, known since the 1920s as Fiera Campionaria, the area has been redesigned in terms of efficiency, modernity and sustainability, offering visitors a sophisticated combination of green areas, services, shops, offices and homes while respecting its history. The link between past and future is the fieramilanocity_mico exhibition centre, characterised by a special comet-inspired roof in aluminium.

But the beating heart of the district are its three Towers that have helped change the skyline of Milan, designed by international “architect stars” such as Arata IsozakiZaha Hadid and Daniel Libeskind. Underneath them stands the large pedestrian plaza that gives access to the CityLife Shopping District, a large urban district dedicated to shopping and entertainment with shops, restaurants, bars and cinemas, both indoors and outdoors. In addition to the business district, the CityLife district also includes elegant apartments built according to criteria of energy optimisation and respect for the environment: on one side, those designed by Daniel Libeskind, on the other by Zaha Hadid.

All around is the large park, criss-crossed by bicycle and pedestrian trails, botanical gardens with local species, and orchards where one can stroll among flowers, fruit and vegetables, lawns and benches to relax in the green of nature among contemporary art installations and, last but not least, sports facilities.

The project also took into account some of the architectural elements already present and dating back to the early twentieth century, such as the Fountain of the Four Seasons, located between the old buildings; the Palazzo delle Scintille, created as a place for sports and the Goldsmiths' buildings, which currently house the headquarters of the Fondazione Fiera Milano.
