The new approach to the bridal business: interview with Nicole Cavallo for Aerenica

With her huge following on social media and her reputation as a true opinion leader in the world of formal occasion wear, Nicole Cavallo, after a solid period of training at Bocconi, chose the industry she grew up in—the bridal world—and did so by "putting herself out there." Her live streams on Instagram are immensely popular. Always smiling yet authoritative, she is sought after for any kind of advice. Now, at Sì Sposaitalia Collezioni, she and her mother Alessandra Rinaudo, are launching their very first truly collaborative collection: Aerenica.

*What will the new collection be like, can you give us a sneak preview?

I let me define it as 'something that doesn’t yet exist'. Dresses that honour the significance of the occasion while embracing a more modern and relaxed elegance. Unstructured, modern, and contemporary dresses without trains or excessive embellishments, dresses with a fresh twist and made from unconventional fabrics. I can also say that there will be a vintage touch, a hint of honey. It will include suits, outerwear, bodysuits...

*You and your mum, two talents that complement each other, a special bond, two different experiences. We are excited and full of energy! After our experience in the family business, in a large international group that has taught us a lot, we’re now working on something that’s entirely our own. For the production, and we don't want large numbers but a controlled distribution, we renovated the Atelier that was my grandmother's, the place where it all began. We contacted tailors and model makers: a very strong team.

A perfect circle, even if the way we see it, there is always something that can be improved.

*What are your roles?

They are not areas with impassable borders, in addition to the communication, I will also manage part of the financial side, my mother the prototyping, the production and then... we’ll test them together. I wear the garments, she perfects them!

*And the Atelier in Turin?

It will remain the special place that it already is, where there are no dressing rooms but just rooms, where you can drink tea or coffee without your time running out. And I too will continue to dedicate myself to my community, because we are inseparable now.
