TRANSFORMING WEDDING DRESSES INTO CASUAL WEAR - The IED – European Institute of Design – initiative for SÌ SPOSAITALIA COLLEZIONI

10 IED students for 10 projects looking at the sustainable future of the planet.

"Buy less, choose well, make it last". Vivienne Westwood's fashion statement perfectly sums up the essence of the new project signed by Sì Sposaitalia Collezioni with IED- Istituto Europeo di Design of Milan that was part of the 2024 edition of the event. Increasingly a collector of the different souls of the bridal segment, Sì Sposaitalia Collezioni has focused on two very topical issues, the education of young people and sustainability, to encapsulate them in a single moment that will literally take shape in its exhibition spaces.

The initiative based on upcycling saw the involvement of ten young students from the Master in Fashion Design coordinated by Marina Spadafora - ambassador of ethical fashion in the world. Starting from the use of wedding dresses destined for the scrap heap, they have studied and created a casual wear garment and will show it in the showcase area of the fair. And that's not all. Because among the ten final models, the design considered most representative in reinterpreting, with a new identity, the essence of the wedding dress according to the philosophy of upcycling, has been selected and will be awarded a recognition of merit.

Thus, the vote of Sì Sposaitalia Collezioni went to the project by Attilio Pallagrosi, who created a look that recalls children's nightmares and their fears by digging out and bringing to light their deepest feelings. Attilio’s project was chosen for the ability in "disassembling" a dress and give the pieces another value by building a dress far from the starting point: a beautiful vision that looks to a sustainable future.
